What they walked into
The starting point
Family-home kitchen with original oak cabinets and a brick backsplash. The owners wanted a clean modern footprint without losing the warmth of the original wood — so we built the island in walnut shiplap and let the rest of the room go bright.
What changed
The work behind the finish
We gutted the cabinetry, re-ran plumbing supply lines for the island, replaced the entire electrical for the recessed lighting layout, and built the walnut island on site. Quartz countertops were templated against the as-built cabinet bodies, not the spec drawings, so the seams landed exactly where we wanted them. Two-tone cabinet finish, spherical pendant + decorative chandelier, dark gray porcelain plank floor.
